4th of July

The 4th of July was a hot, dry, and windy day for us in Kansas, but they still had a fireworks show!  There was no parade so we painted a pinata with red and blue paint, unfortunately we didn't get around to hitting the pinata that day.  Some friends in the ward who live in town invited us over for a BBQ.  It was great to have good friends, good food, and noise from a crowded house.  It reminded me of my Dooley get togethers!  After dinner, Laurie Beth took the three older boys to watch the fireworks show.  Jesse didn't like the loud booms, so he plugged his ears the whole time.  We got to see lots of fireworks and have many late nights because neighbors were doing fireworks starting Sunday night through the 4th.

Jesse's 4th Birthday!

It was super hot on Jesse's birthday so we went and got slushies from Sonic during the afternoon.  That evening we had the dragon cake; the last picture is Jesse making a silly 'oh no' face when we ate one of the dragon's eyeballs!  Jesse enjoyed getting markers, a drawing desk/board, and a stick horse for his birthday.

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

It was so fun to have Grandma and Grandpa Burt with us for almost two weeks.  While Mom and baby Wesley rested, Grandma and Grandpa spent hours playing outside and going to the splash park with the boys.  When Nathaniel finally made it home from his trip to Washington, we all enjoyed going to the zoo and bowling. 

Wesley Charles

It's a....BOY! Five boys have now blessed our family and we wouldn't trade any of them!  Wesley Charles Burt joined the family on Monday June 11 weighing 7 pounds 9 ounces and 21 inches long.  He is so adorable and his brothers just love to hold him.  We were blessed to be able to induce and have Wesley almost a week early so that we didn't chance Nathaniel missing the birth of our baby since he had to fly to Washington state for interviews and would be gone for four days.  Mommy is surviving with lots of help from Mama and Papa Burt and the many friends we have in our ward.  The only thing we have trouble with is beating the heat here in Kansas!  It's hard to want to do anything when it is close to 100 degrees.

Baseball!

We spent a large portion Saturday morning at the ball park watching Daddy play softball with his work team called the 'Mad Batters'.  It was really fun to watch, and Nathaniel played really well.  I thought maybe spending two hours at a ballpark sitting on bleachers or walking around supervising my kids on the playground would put me into labor, but it only exhausted and dehydrated me!  Nathaniel got to pitch the second game and smacked quite a few good balls when up to bat.

Oklahoma Temple

 Yes that is round little me.  I don't have any flattering church clothes to wear, in truth, I dress for comfort these days!!  Nathaniel looks soooooo handsome!

Nathaniel took me on a relaxing trip to the temple!  A member in the ward watched the boys on Friday night and Saturday so that we could go down and stay in a hotel then attend the temple the next morning.  The Oklahoma temple is about 4 1/2 hours away and is one of the smaller temples, but it is always beautiful to see these spiritual Houses of the Lord.  I guess the trip started out very stressful with strong winds the entire drive and just before we left home, Nathaniel found out that he was missing a few things for his application for licensure in Washington.  He took care of what he could, now hopefully it all comes together in a timely manner.  Well, once we got to the hotel we were able to relax and not worry about getting up every minute for one child or the other.  It was nice to only worry about getting myself ready in the morning instead of four little boys!  The temple was a great experience where we both felt the peaceful influence of the spirit.  Our group was tiny with only five of us ladies and seven men, we thought for a 9:00 session on Saturday it would have a bit more.  Anyway, I am glad we were able to attend the temple before this baby comes and especially at this time in our lives when we need the comfort of the Spirit.

Field Day

Joshua and Jonas got to participate in their school's field day.  It was super hot and very very windy, but Logan, Jesse, and Mommy went to cheer the boys on.  Mom was the only one who got sunburned!  They had fun activities like an obsticle course, sack races, tug-o-war, and more.  Logan kept wanting to join in the games and Jesse got bored and hot after awhile of just watching, but they both enjoyed the popsicles afterwards!
